Two days after Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the season was “approaching,” Aaron Judj was on the bench for the main match against Shohei Ohtani and the Angels on Wednesday.
The Yankees eliminated the big leader without him – Orodi scored the 7th goal in two-thirds, before Aroldis Chapman and Lucas Lewet conceded seven in the ninth.
Boone said that despite the urgency of the series for the mid-Yankees, the referee was just given a day off, with the outside striker playing 13 of his first eight games in 13 days.
“Just one day, I think I really need it,” Boone said. “It’s very difficult today [to sit him], we live as a club and it’s clear who he is on our team. But I also have to keep in mind the big picture sometimes, especially with him, trying to make sure he sends as many messages as possible, obviously this year he did a ton.
“But today was the day I was convicted for having to take it down.”
The referee played and played nine games in Tuesday’s win over the Angels and had no physical problems. Boone was sitting with the referee at the beginning of the season, saying he would have pain in his lower body. But the referee has played in 75 of the Yankees’ 80 games this season as well.
“I think he’ll be beaten up a bit [in the] the lower half, ”Boone said. “Especially the games we’re playing right now … The weather was so hot, we played three and a half plus hours of games, day games after night games. Obviously he played in the center field [seven starts this month]. He was very much in the bases. I think in general he was a bit beaten up.
“Nothing has to do with what keeps him out of the lineup. But we’re trying harder to prevent anything from happening because we’re just stretched.”
Jio Urshela also dropped out of Wednesday’s squad. Boone, like the judge, called it “just a day.” [off]. ”
Clint Frazier was replaced by Tyler Wade to start the third shot after complaints of dizziness, starting from the right field for the referee, the Yankees said. Frazier was checked by the team’s training staff and will be given an additional assessment on Thursday.
Naked Frazier was hit by the height of his hand on the first shot, his only shot before leaving the game.
The Yankees will have two prospects in the All-Star Game on July 11 in Acesparks. Their best prospects are midfielder Jasson Dominguez and Luis Medina, the No. 7 club’s right-hand man on MLB.com, both of whom have been nominated for the American League team. Rachel Balkovec, the minor league’s impact coach, will also serve as the impact coach for AL.
Gerrit Cole will start the game against the Mets on Friday, but Bone said the rotation of the other Yankees in the Metro series needs to be determined.
