By Charles Brun: WBC Interim Heavyweight Champion Dillon White has confirmed that American Jermaine Franklin is one of the fighters being considered for his next fight in the US at the end of August.
It will be a disappointment for boxing fans if White fights the little-known Franklin (20-0, 13 KO) because the Americans don’t know who this man is.
Franklin is a second-level heavyweight with no ranking in the top 15 of any of the four sanctioned bodies.
Franklin is the few boys from Michigan who have a padded record full of vague opposition. If White’s promoter Eddie Hearn believes American fans will be impressed that he is fighting Franklin, he is wrong.
American boxing fans don’t know who Franklin is. He may also come from the planet Jupiter as he is alien to American fans.
White 28-2, 18 KOs) says he has no interest in fighting former IBF Heavyweight Champion Charles ‘Prince’ Martin (28-2-1, 25 KOs) for his US date at the DAZN and Sky box office .
According to White, 35-year-old Martin is now on top of the hill, and he will gain nothing from fighting her. However, some boxing fans say that Dillian has been fighting old times with his leading fighters continuously since 2019.
Martin is actually much smaller than the fighters White has been facing since 2019.
White says Martin is “desperate” for a payday
For example, White’s last three fights have been against 41-year-old Alexander Povetkin. [twice] and 40-year-old Marius Wach.
When you put Charles Martin in that group, he fits in quite well in terms of age group, which is why White is pooling his competition.
“Looks like Charles Martin is up to his old tricks and desperate for a payday” to keep him going. Whatever he says doesn’t bother me in the slightest. The raving of a deluded fool,” said Dillian White sky game.
“He’s not a guy where you sit there and think, ‘Wow, Charles Martin wants to fight me.’ He really is a clumsy bum. “
It’s interesting how dismissive White is about a real contender like Charles Martin. While Martin may not be a super talent, he is at least ranked in the top 15 at heavyweight.
better alternative to dillian
Last time I checked, Jermaine Franklin wasn’t ranked in the top 15 at all. Check it out for yourself.
Charles Martin’s ranking:
In contrast, Franklin isn’t ranked in the top 15 in the division at all, which tells you what you need to know about what White is looking for in a rival for his next fight in America.
“Jermaine Franklin is in the running” White said. “Some other people are also in the race.
“Now I’m in a good position and now I’ve got mine” [interim WBC heavyweight] title,” White continued. “The plan is to fight the biggest and best Wherever they are I can. I’ve been chasing big matches for a long time,” White said.
Well, if White is serious about “the biggest and best fights” he has to tell Hearn about it because he’s about to fight Franklin. If White really wants to fight the best, he’ll have to face one of these guys:
- Filip Hergovic
- Andy Ruiz Jr.
- luis ortijo
- Daniel Dubois
- Joe Joyce
- Tony Yoka
- Michael Hunter
- Frank Sanchezche
- Joseph Parker
