The full name of the legendary actor’s 1976 track “The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me) (An Evening with Pit King)” is taken from his new concert film. New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization.
Murray will collaborate with world-renowned cellist and violinist Ian Vogler at a concert in June 2018 at the historic Acropolis in Athens, Greece, which featured “a unique performance by one of the most unique actors in history”. Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez for an evening of classical music, rock, jazz, poetry and literature.
Directed by Andrew Muscato, the performance in Greece was the culmination of a tour that included a stop at the Royal Festival Hall in London after a collaboration with Murray and his partners on the 2017 album New Worlds.
In addition to the cover of Wits ’song“ Small Change, ”Murray reinterpreted songs by Van Morrison, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein, as well as classic parts by Bach and Schubert.
