Islam Maxachev has gone through a heavy weight loss process for his fight against Tiago Moises at UFC Vegas 31.

After cutting nine pounds in 12 hours, the Dagestani fighter seemed tired of struggling to stand up on his own, a common occurrence for MMA fighters cut with heavy weights.

On Thursday evening, Makhachev held a sparring session with Umar Nurmagomedov. She then underwent cardio surgery and used a towel to lose excess weight.

The 29-year-old woke up early on the day of the weightlifting with another four pounds. After a tired workout wearing a sweat suit, Maxachev was observed in a portable sauna, where he lost a lot of sweat.

After the massage session, Maxachev finally passed the weigh-in and successfully lifted the weight. The UFC, ranked # 9 in the lightweight category, stepped on the scales and weighed in at 155.5 pounds. Although Makhachev was extremely tired, Khabib Nurmagomedov said it was his best weight in the weight class.

While crossing the 156-pound mark has never been easy for Maxachev, the 19-1 fighter has yet to gain weight.

Makhachev’s weight loss regimen has been uploaded to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s YouTube channel, which you can watch below:

Islam Makhachev wants to win the UFC lightweight championship in 2022

Islam Makhachev will take to the court against Tiago Moises later today in the main event of UFC Vegas 31. If he manages to make better use of the Brazilian, Makhachev believes victory in his next fight will be enough to give him a title blow.

“Maybe I have a few steps. Two more fights, this one (against Moises) and one more, and then in early 2022 I will fight for the championship, ”Maxachev told TMZ Sports.

According to Khabib Nurmagomedov, his longtime friend will most likely overthrow Dustin Poire and become the new UFC lightweight champion.

Islam Makhachev made his UFC debut in 2015. After a successful debut, Adriano Martins knocked him out in the second fight.

Since then, Islam Makhachev has been torn in the 155-pound division and has won seven in a row, most recently in a game against Drew Dober at UFC 259.
