Islam Makhachev is recognized as one of the best young fighters in MMA. He holds an impressive professional MMA record of 19 wins and 1 loss.
Makhachev’s intense struggle and suffocating blow in putting pressure on the Dagestani style earned him great praise. However, his solo defeat led to harsh criticism of his remarkable skill.
Islam Makhachev’s style of kicking is believed to be similar to that of his longtime friend and training partner, Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, while Nurmagomedov retired undefeated, Makhachev has another flaw in his MMA star record.
So far, the only loss in Islam Makhachev’s MMA career has been to Adriano Martins, who knocked him out in the first round of the fight. Maxachev faced Martins on October 3, 2015 at UFC 192 in the lightweight division.
The fight saw Islam Makhachev use the well-known Dagestani pressure tactic as he tried to start an argument with Adriano Martins. Meanwhile, Martins, a self-proclaimed good gippler, has taken a stand against the threat that Makhachev is constantly bringing.
Less than a few minutes into the fight, Islam Makhachev led the position from the south with his left hand. He had previously blitzed Martines with similar blows, only for the Brazilian to move and separate them.
But this time, Adriano Martins slipped the blow. Instead of parting, he straightened his legs and with a thunderbolt from his south-facing position, confronted Islam Makhachev with his right hand. The blow knocked down Makhachev and Martins immediately began to hit the ground.
The referee quickly intervened and Martins shook the fight before he had time to deliver a significant blow. Makhachev did not appear on the field in full and appeared to be disappointed with the referee’s decision to abandon the fight.
The official verdict of the fight was Adriano Martins ’victory over Islam Makhachev in the first round. Fans can follow the KO series in a tweet below (* Service: Twitter user Neil Butcher):
