SEVENTEEN member Woozi Ruby provided more insights into the creative process behind the new solo mix.

Earlier this week (January 3), Woozi held its presentation the first solo mixtape “Ruby” performed in full English. He has written, composed and arranged songs and has collaborated frequently with K-pop idol, Bumzu, Park Ki-tae and others.

“I thought a lot about which language the song was more appropriate for. At first, I didn’t think about English, ”he said recently Teen Vogue. “But when I started writing songs, I thought English was very intuitive and very good. When I thought of a language that fully covered the color of the song, it was English. “

Although SEVENTEEN members did not speak English like Joshua and Vernon, Woozy said he decided it was appropriate for Ruby and continued to write his words in English.

“While it was hard, I thought it was very appropriate,” the idol explained. “I got a lot of help from my colleagues. It was great.”

He later compared his process for Ruby to SEVENTEEN songs, describing it as “very different”. Vuzi is known for helping write and create almost all of the band’s discography.

“When it comes to creating music for SEVENTEEN, we start by discussing the overall message, and then we start touching the music with a computer,” he said. “However, as a soloist, I started with musical instruments, not computers. I remember [for “Ruby”] I first started playing the guitar. ”

The release of Ruby is expected to coincide with SEVENTEEN’s next episode of The Thirteen Tapes interview and photobook series. Series It was launched in early 2021 when a member Good opened his first solo mix “Spider”.

At the time, Pledis Entertainment said it would be a series “[commemorate] Releases of SEVENTEEN members’ mixtaps ”. Pledis also wrote, “New Volume [‘The Thirteen Tapes’] It is published each time a member releases his mixtape, ”he said, noting that all thirteen members of the group can perform solo.
