According to MMA Junkie Two of the top 15 weight classes have been added to the already collected card for UFC 269. The match between Geoff Neal and Santiago Ponsinibbio is scheduled for December 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Neal enters the event, trying to break the skid he lost in two battles. The last time he made a unanimous decision to Neal Magni was due to many health issues. Before this fight, he lost his unanimous decision to Stephen Thompson in his first major race.
Prior to these defeats, Neil had won seven battles, including the last six in the octagon. He joined the UFC in the 2017 Contender Series. He then handed over to Brian Kamozzi and CO Frank Franko.
In 2019, he unanimously decided to open a ranking in the light heavyweight division over Belal Muhammad, then technical knockout Nico Price and Mike Perry.
Ponzinibbio defeated Miguel Baez in a fight in June. That victory saw him return to Li Jingliang from the KO defeat in January. The fight with Lee was the Argentine’s first fight after two and a half years of trials with serious blood and bone infections.
Before appearing in 2018, Ponsnibbio won 7 fights and defeated Neil Magny, Mike Perry and Gunnar Nelson. He joined the UFC after appearing in 2013 Ultimate Fighter Brazil second season.
He will fight in the lightweight division in the main event of the UFC 269 tournament, and Charles Oliveira will defend his belt for the first time. Dustin Puirer wants to fight for the championship.
The main event is scheduled for Amanda Nunes to defend her championship belt against Julianna Pena in her lightweight category. Also on the card should be Leon Edwards-Jorge Masvidal, Kay Kara-Franz-Cody Garbrandt and Pedro Munoz-Dominic Cruz.
