If all went according to plan, Luis Severino could be on the field for the Yankees again this week or next year.

But given how he felt when he suffered pelvic pain at the start of his second rehabilitation on June 12, his right arm was simply encouraged because he has a chance to play again this season.

“Actually, it felt like someone shot me in the leg,” Severino said Wednesday in his first post-injury comment before the Yankees hosted the Angels. “It really felt bad. I couldn’t walk. After two or three days I was walking well. Initially, it was about walking up stairs and struggling with things like that.

“At that moment, yes, I thought it was the end [of my season], ”He added later.

The Yankees could definitely use Severino, who hasn’t played for a major league club since Game 3 of the 2019 ALCS, four months before Tommy John’s surgery. When he returns, we’ll have to see what pitcher they’ll get back – manager Aaron Bowen says the news of Severino’s live bulls and the start of his first rehabilitation is promising – but he could fire a shot at the fighting group. Game 7 saw AL take first place in the East on Wednesday.

General Manager Brian Kashman said over the weekend Severino’s return schedule was postponed for four to six weeks due to a back injury – possibly from early August to mid-August – a double-star, wondering how quickly he returned from failure.

Severino threw up to 120 yards before the games last week and has been doing agility training, running and is planning to drop a bulpen session in the near future.

“The thing is, I’m not over 120,” he said [feet], so I’m a smart person, ”Severino said. “It’s a matter of time and [we’ll] see how long it will take. “

Severino, who dropped 34 pitches in each of the two rehabilitations, believes the juveniles needed two more starts before joining the Yankees. Now he has to go through the process again, but the fast ball said he felt “good” during the kidney injury.

“Of course it was a disappointment,” he said. “It was a long way back and it was so close, then it pushed him back a month, a month and a half, which is really frustrating. But I can’t think about it anymore. I need to recover as soon as possible and think about going back to the top. ”

Meanwhile, Severino was forced to watch how the Yankees manage the uneven year. They started the season with a lot of question marks behind Gerrit Cole and offered mixed results, starting with ERA 4.02 (15th in MLB).

This rotation led the team to strong games in May, but by that time it had lost Corey Kluber (strain on his right shoulder) until September. Michael King replaced him on the route, with Domingo German, Jordan Montgomery and Jameson Tillon battling it out.

The Yankees are also approaching the middle of the season, meaning they’ve been paying more attention to the workload of the pitchers, which stems from last year’s 60th game schedule – which is to raise the depth to a higher level.

“I think we have a great team,” Severino said. “Games we lose [are] in the past we could do nothing about it. We need to think about today and what we need to do to make the team win. ”

Severino is hoping to do just that when he finally gets a chance to completely recover from two injuries.

“I’ve waited long enough, so waiting a little longer doesn’t make a big difference,” he said. “It was bad when it happened, but now I’m trying to improve.”
