A Texas Republican House speaker said he plans to charter a “standby” plane in Washington, D.C., waiting for Democrat lawmakers who fled the state to vote on the Electoral Integrity Bill.
“I urge all of our colleagues in DC to contact their staff immediately to secure their seats on the plane to do state work and return to Austin,” said Speaker Dade Felan. said in a statement. “Texas is waiting.”
IRON “ORGANIZATION AND TACTICS” IN TEXAS DEMOCRATS
Earlier this week, a group of Democratic lawmakers Escaped from Austin, Texas instead of voting in quorum on a bill proposed by Republicans that would strengthen voter identification requirements on ballot papers sent by mail, ban drivers from driving and vote overnight, they flew to the nation’s capital.
“The decision of the Texas Democrats to break the quorum of the Texas Legislature and to renounce the Texas Capitol will hurt the Texans who elected them to office,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement at the time. “As they fly across the country in soft private jets, they leave unresolved issues that could help their districts and our state.
Without a House quorum, Republicans will not be able to enforce the law and on Tuesday voted to order state law enforcement officials to prosecute fugitive members.
TEXAS SPEAKER CALLS FOR FLYING STATE DEMOCRATS TO PUT HIMSELF ON WINGING
In addition to chartering the plane, Felan El-Democrat stripped Democrat Joe Moody of the leadership position he applied for in his Twitter post.
“The most important titles in my life never change: father, husband, El soan,” Mudi tweeted. “Nothing political has broken the top three either, so nothing has changed about my identity and values.”
While in Washington, dozens of Democrats met with Democratic lawmakers, and Texas Democrats “refused to go back” on official Twitter on Thursday.
