After returning to WWE SmackDown, Finn Balor set out to win the main lists again.
The Irishman won the World Cup and the Intercontinental Championship (x2) during his three-year career on the WWE main roster from 2016-2019. He is also a two-time NXT champion.
In a post-SmackDown talk show after the Talking Smack show, Balor commented on the attitude he received from WWE fans in Houston, Texas. The 39-year-old has made it clear he wants to return to the title picture again.
“It’s good to be back,” Balor said. “It’s SmackDown, the fans are back, and Finn is back. It was a hell of a pop [crowd reaction]. Energy is still moving through my body. But yes, I’m glad I’m back.
“Obviously there is always a plan. I went to NXT, became NXT champion. I switched to RAW and I became the first Universal Champion. I was a two-time intercontinental champion, I went back to NXT again, I won the NXT championship, so the reason I’m at SmackDown is to win the championship. ”

Balor spent the last two years of his WWE career at NXT. Prior to that, he was involved in the plots of the Intercontinental Championship in the first half of 2019 at RAW and SmackDown.
SmackDown’s men’s singles title is the Universal Championship, hosted by Roman Reigns. Apollo Crews is currently hosting the Intercontinental Championships at SmackDown.
