Hello listeners, this is Brett Molina, welcome to Talking Tech. I apologize in advance now because I want to talk about this incident and it can put a song in your ear and it can be in your brain for the next hour or two. hours, can be all day. I’m sorry, but it’s a big deal anyway. Baby Shark, doo, doo, doo, doo. Do you know this song? This is a big favorite among kids. Maybe it’s a nightmare for parents because they’ve heard it 8,000 times. This is the first video to be viewed 10 billion times on YouTube.

I will write about this in a story I read on tech.usatoday.com. Pinkfong, the company that created the Baby Shark video, confirmed the milestone in a Twitter post. The video was viewed an additional 8.7 million times since Friday morning, when it exceeded 10 billion. It’s amazing to think, this single video has been viewed 10 billion times on YouTube. It takes a lot of time.

Of course, YouTube also celebrated this important event. They posted a very nice update on Twitter, where they wrote “10 billion views doo, doo, doo, doo”. By the way, don’t ask me to sing another song because I don’t want to drive the audience away. The video for Baby Shark was originally released in 2016, so it’s a very short time to hit 10 billion views, which is about five to six years. Since then, it has been a big hit among the young crowd. We saw that it entered the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, which shows you how big and popular the song is. And then Baby Shark in 2020, because according to published reports, it is the most viewed video on YouTube.

Still, wrap your brain around it. Viewed 10 billion times, this song and video has been played 10 billion times. My family is probably responsible for a small part of it. But again, it’s an incredible experience and it shows you how much families and kids especially love this song. And I apologize again, it can stick to your head for a good part of your day, so you go.

But listeners, let’s hear from you. Do you have any thoughts, questions, or show ideas? Do you want us to try to solve it? Do you just want to complain that I put Shark in your brain? Let me know on Twitter, I’m @ BrettMolina23. Please don’t forget to subscribe and rate us or leave a comment on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher wherever you get your podcasts. You were listening to Talking Tech, and we’ll be back from the tech world tomorrow with another quick tip.
