The southern Florida government has found the body of Cassondra ‘Cassie’ Stratton, the wife of a Colorado political strategist who was at the Surfside condominium during COVID-19 illness.
The body of a 40-year-old woman was found Sunday. His family thanked all those who prayed for him after the building collapsed last month and “reiterated their eternal gratitude to the rescuers whose courage and determination were unmatched.”
Her husband, Michael Stratton, told KDVR that he was on the phone with his wife at the time of the crash.
“He said the building was shaking and then … the phone went off,” he said.
The death toll from a condominium crash in the Miami area rose to 94 on Monday as officials tried to tighten on-site security measures to make sure the victims’ personal belongings were preserved for their families. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said 22 people were missing.
