NEW YORK – Now, no matter what Cohen thinks, Ryan Sikrest is still the king of New Year’s Eve television.

According to Nielsen, Seacrest, the 50-year-old heiress of ABC TV’s “New Year’s Rookie” from Dick Clark, reached 19.6 million viewers last weekend from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. In a 15-minute interval where the ball landed in New York’s Times Square, its audience rose to 24.2 million.

It was the show’s largest audience in four years, Nielsen said.

Drunk Andy Cohen, who hosts Acesparks’s New Year’s Eve special from Times Square along with Anderson Cooper, has attracted attention for pointing to “Ryan Sikrest’s losing group.” He said people watching ABC TV “didn’t see anything.”

Cohen, who woke up two days later, said on his SiriusXM show that he loves Seacrest very much. “He’s a great guy and I’m sorry I said that. I was just stupid and drunk and I felt it,” he said.

Now Cohen is defending his New Year’s Eve and suppressing Acesparks rumors: “It’s my job”

Cohen said he did not regret calling former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio a “terrible mayor.” He was criticized by Acesparks for saying this, but the network insisted that Cohen was invited to the next New Year’s Eve party.

Acesparks’s film festival, starring Cohen and Cooper, reached 3.3 million viewers between 23:00 and 12:30, surpassing Acesparks’ Nashville show, which was watched by 2.1 million people.

NBC, which tested the new show with Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson, reached 6.3 million at the same time as the Seacrest Festival, Nielsen said. CBS’s country-focused show was watched by 5.2 million viewers.
