Ray Mysterio is one of the few stars on the WWE. The masked luchador has worked for everything from ECW and independents to Mexico, Japan and beyond. Even repeated injuries slowed him down.
The ageless wrestler was a guest Kurt corner show soon The two WWE legends discussed a lot of topics, the most interesting being Ray’s 2006 World Cup dominance. Mysterio said his promotions weren’t good enough to keep him in a high position.
I never took the time to work on what I needed to work on to back up that title, and that worked on developing my promos or characters. In Lucha, you have never been taught this part of the industry. I think that’s where I threw the ball because I couldn’t back up the title and cut out the promos.
Ray continued to talk about how he focused on the movements in the ring. He says he regrets not improving his microphone skills.
I’ve never been a promo guy. I spend most of my time in the ring and the fans know me. If I had finished my work, the result would have been different.
Ray worked with his son Dominic. Both had very interesting programs. It’s great to watch the second-generation star go with his father.
Do you think Ray’s lack of a good promo gave him up for the championship? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
