Qatar is looking to kick off its first Gold Cup campaign with a win against Grenada at the BBVA Stadium in Texas on Saturday.

The reigning Asian champions celebrated their entertaining debut in the tournament with a 3-3 draw by Panama on the first day of the match.

Akram Afif, Almoez Ali and Hassan Al-Haydos were all on target for the Marons who wanted to score all three points in the second game.

Grenada, who won the right to participate in the tournament 10 years later, lost to Honduras 4-0 in the first match and was baptized.

The scoreboard may show that this was normal, but the Spice Boys hit 10 shots in the game, even though their defense was poor.

The Caribbean outfit has not made it out of the group stage in any of the previous two games in the Golden Cup. Now they climbed another mountain.

Head coach Michael Findlay could remain in the same squad despite scoring 4-0 in the opening game.

But he would have expected better from England-born goalkeeper Rice Charles-Cook, who conceded more than four goals.

The reigning Asian champions, despite having played five games in Panama, have lost three times and fed manager Felix Sanchez to think about.

The prolific striker Ali Almoez, who scored in a 3-3 thriller on Wednesday, went down in history as the first player to score in the Asian Cup, America’s Cup and CONCACAF Gold Cup. He is expected to strike again as the Maroonians want to score all three points.

Grenada vs Qatar Predicted XI

Grenada (4-4-2): Jason Belfon; Tyrone Sterling, Kwesi Paul, Aaron Per, Benjamin Ettien; Regan Charles-Cook, Oliver Norburn, Arthur Paterson, Romar Frank; Saydrel Lewis, Jamol Charles.

Qatar (4-3-3): Meshal Barsham; Ro-Ro, Bassam Ar-Ravi, Tarek Salman, Abdelkarim Hassan; Hamam Ahmed, Abdullah Al-Ahrak, Karim Boudiaf, Abdulaziz Hatem; Almoez Ali, Akram Afif.

Prophecy of Grenada and Qatar

Panama has tested the big reality by hiding the start of its opening day in Qatar, but it’s hard to see a similar result in Grenada.

They are a young side and miss a lot of goals, which is not a good sign as the maroons have the ability to attack to separate them.

Forecast: Grenada 1-3 Qatar
