Peloton is reportedly foraying into the digital wearables market.
according to bloombergThe fitness giant is working on an armband capable of digitally measuring a user’s heart rate.
The report states that the armband will be available in smaller and larger sizes and will be paired with other devices such as Peloton bikes and treadmills as well as smartphones running the Peloton app.
As Acesparks reports, the band will capture workout intensity and feature a small screen where users can view the battery level.
Peloton told USA Today that its team is always working on new ideas, but the company had nothing to share at this time.
If confirmed, Peloton will jump into the growing fitness tracking space with its Apple Watch alongside big names including Fitbit, Samsung and Apple. in March, Research firm IDC said More than 153 million wearable devices were shipped worldwide during the fourth quarter of 2020, a 27% increase from the previous year.
In May, Peloton announced plans to build its first US factory in Toledo, Ohio. This investment is expected to create over 2,000 jobs in the region.
