“Little Discomfort” was co-written with multi-instrumentalist Zach Fogarty. Speaking about the track, the Queen (real name Mikaela Straus) said, “I’ve been a huge fan of Fushi for a while, so it was a dream when we started DM and finally set a date in the studio. The “little annoyance” came of its own accord; Zak played the guitar, and Fu and I were just starting out. ”
“This song has become a song about walking on tiptoe next to someone who has lost you and feeling like a pest,” Straus continued. “It raises questions for someone who doesn’t listen at all, and I think that’s a very good feeling.”
Straus is working on a sequel to The Cheap Queen. They discussed the “legendary” album: “I think this new record is more about me in general. There are fewer love songs I’ve written, it’s crazy, but if there are moments of love, they won’t go unanswered. “
“It’s about my relationship with Quinn (Wilson). It’s about how I’m growing and my position in the industry. And ridiculously disproportionate and angry. And that’s something I do well, there’s always a sense of humor. Also, I really focused on writing songs in a different way than in the past … All of this was done while sitting at the piano or guitar.
Last week (January 8) the Royal Queen confirmed that their album was being mixed.
talk to about his ambitions, Fushi said: “Actually, I want to change people’s lives – to reach out to others and make them feel heard. When I write a song, I try to be as real as possible and tell the truth. I think I depend on the emotions of the song – but it doesn’t always have to be something negative, sometimes we have to accept the grief.
“Music can be very powerful,” he continued. “I’ve heard people tell stories about songs that are the only thing they remember when they’re out of depression or in a coma. I sincerely believe that artists can be doctors, but as I write, it will be healing for me as well. “
