Kenny Omega delivered a match of the year candidates in AEW before the injuries caught up to him. The Cleaner passed the torch to fellow AEW star “Hangman” Adam Page at Full Gear PPV event in November 2021.

Omega took to Twitter to reminisce about his match against Kota Ibushi when they were part of DDT. For those not in the know, Omega and Ibushi had a hard-hitting match that saw the Golden Star emerge victorious.

The former AEW World Champion put over the match huge for standing the test of time while taking a hilarious hijab at WWE superstar Sami Zayn’s ‘El Generico’ gimmick. Apparently, The Cleaner never liked that masked man very much.

To this day this match maintains its legendary status. An old wrestler at the time named “El Generico” even said it was the best match he’s ever seen live. Never liked him too much though so his opinion doesn’t count

Omega’s tweet came hours after Ibushi removed all mentions of New Japan Pro Wrestling from his bio. That seemingly suggests he may be done with Japan’s top promotion over alleged differences with NJPW talent relations staffer Kikuch. Will the Golden Lovers reunite in AEW? Only time will tell on that one, but keep checking back with Acesparks News for more!
