CHICAGO – Joe Harris is still out of training and his recovery from ankle surgery has been longer and more complicated than the Nets expected.

“Yeah, I think it was harder than we thought,” coach Steve Nash admitted before facing the Nets Bulls on Wednesday. “If we know anything about Joe, he’ll do everything and come back as soon as possible.”

James Harden (left knee hyperextension), Kayri Irving (left ankle wear) and Nick Claxton (left thigh knee compression) were also suspicious in Wednesday’s game. But these are short-term problems, and Harris ’long-term absence is a weekly concern.

Harris has not played since injuring his ankle after a Nov. 14 win in Oklahoma City. Eventually, he underwent surgery on November 29th. The initial time interval for his return was four to eight weeks, but now he is not even allowed to train.

“It simply came to our notice then [ramp-up mode]Said Nash. “She is not ready to do anything. He has to go back to that and he has to include his high-intensity stuff. So he’s not there yet.

LaMarcus Oldridge (pain in his right leg) also did not play for the Nets. … Newcomer David Duke Jr., who hasn’t played in the Nets ’previous four games.

“It was really good. I learned a lot. When I sat down, I started to develop in areas that I usually can’t reach, ”he said. “The coaching staff trusted me.”

Patty Mills has hit just 9-40 in his last five games.

Fatigue was a factor. He averaged 31.0 minutes on Wednesday, 6.2 more games than last season, and 5.3 minutes more during his 2017-18 career.

“I think so,” Nash said, to the question of whether the workload affected Mills’s shooting. “He plays very hard, he flies there on both sides of the floor. He played the minutes he played more. … So his workload was probably too big. But it is very important to us, whether it strikes or not.

When the Nets take on Oklahoma City on Thursday, it will mark the Mills ’first home game against their Australian team-mate, Thunder rookie Josh Giddini.

“I’m very proud of Gidd’s development over the years,” Mills told The Post. “So I’m very happy with the opportunity given to him and he’s making the most of it.”

Both were trained at the Australian Sports Institute when they were in high school and coached by Marty Clark (Mills in St. Mary, Giddie at the NBA Global Academy).

“He’s happy to help the next guy, whether it’s Giddi or other players here. We often ask him to talk to the young man, over the phone or give other information, and he always answers “yes,” Clark told The Post over the phone. brings training and helps him. So I have no doubt he will do the same with Josh. ”
