Janet Jackson felt like a “single criminal” after defending her pop star brother Michael in a 2005 trial on child abuse charges. Instead, he felt “bad”.

The 55-year-old singer will make a sincere confession in her two-part documentary Janet, which will premiere on January 28 on A&E and Lifetime TV channels.

In an extended trailer for the special film released Sunday, documentary filmmakers asked Janet if the allegations against Michael had “affected her career.”

The five-time Grammy winner responds openly with a sad look on his face: “Yes … guilty.”

Janet was by her brother’s side during a very popular trial, and she was eventually acquitted on four counts of raping a minor.

Michael died four years later, in 2009, at the age of 50.

In 1993, Michael was also charged with sexually assaulting 13-year-old Jordan Chandler on his Neverland ranch. Since Chandler’s father, Evan, agreed to pay $ 15 million, the case never went to trial.

Defending her brother from these accusations again, Janet said in the 2016 documentary “Without a Mask”: “If this really continues, will the father accept the money? Do you think that will all be well? It makes no sense. If it’s my son, it doesn’t matter if he gave me a billion dollars, I want to see you behind bars or dead because you did that to my son. “

He added: “It was crazy – the guy was behind the money – it was what he wanted.”

Janet is supporting Michael in a 2005 California child abuse trial.

Michael faced another charge of sexually abusing young boys in the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland.

After the documentary, Janet said to her nephew, “I think there’s also a fear of giving her more power and more attention. “That’s why my aunt [Janet] He didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to make it bigger.

A few months later, he defended Michael, saying he believed his legacy would “continue.”

Janet and Michael are pictured in a 1972 photo. This is depicted in the upcoming documentary Janet.

“I love it when I see kids imitating him and adults still listening to his music,” he told the Sunday Times.

“It allows you to know the impact my family has on the world. I hope I’m not arrogant in any way – I’m just saying what it is. It really is God’s work and I am just thankful for it.

The trailer features an excerpt from the news that Janet was expelled from the Grammy Awards after the scandal.

In the documentary trailer, the singer appears to say, “They’ll build you up and tear you down as soon as you get there.”
