It was January 2019, when the controversial NFL finalist Greg Hardy made his UFC debut. The “Prince of War” joined the organization on Tuesday night with two NO and technical knockout victories in Dana White’s two-round series of contenders.
Hardy, 33, is now almost three years away from his final fight in his contract with the UFC. And despite running short and full of controversy as a professional fighter, he looks at his career with a sense of pride.
“My cards have big numbers, I’m always on big cards, I always fool the crowd,” Hardy said. BJPENN.com. “This is my last fight in my contract and they are putting me together with Alexei. We have chosen and we have not chosen, we are fighting the fighters and we are making our way.”
“I have been fighting for my job since I came to this job. Nothing is guaranteed in the UFC, nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, so that’s my line. I am very comfortable on this line. In the last two fights, I’ve fought for a contract, I promise you. “
Hardy is set to face veteran veteran Alexei Oleinik on the UFC 270 main card on Jan. 22. If the UFC doesn’t re-sign him, he says he will be completely satisfied with what he has achieved.
“It’s a business,” Hardy said. “The great thing about me is that I’ve been in business for a long time. Many of these guys have struggled all their lives and have never been in any business.
“They struggle with the mindset of the business side to think about it. For me, if I win and he doesn’t sign a contract with me again, it’s thank you, because it was a great show. My fans loved it, you loved it too, I had a great time and we will continue.
“I do not think I will lose,” he said. But, if I do that and he doesn’t decide to give me back, it’s the same thing, it’s a pleasure. He didn’t have to let me in, he didn’t let me shine and he did and we had a great time.
“I think I’ve been on every card of Conor, on every big card. It was a great trip, ”he said. “Just as I left the (Dallas) cowboys, I hope I did more than you gave me. I think I did and I think I will continue to do so. “
Hardy holds the record 7-4, with a judgment that there is no single choice. He made a lot of complaints from fans in his debut for defeating Allen Crowder with an illegal knee and using an inhaler during the round break of his 2019 fight against Ben Sosoli, a match that was later canceled to “no”.
Hardy currently has two fights. He last fought Tai Tuivasa in UFC 264 and was knocked out in the first round.
