Woody Harrelson slams COVID-19 protocols on movie sets: ‘Absurd’

Actor Woody Harrelson has expressed his dissatisfaction with COVID-19 protocols currently in place on movie sets, calling them “absurd”. During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harrelson criticized the strict rules designed to prevent the spread of the virus, stating that they made it difficult to do his job.

Harrelson is not the first celebrity to speak out against COVID-19 protocols in the entertainment industry. In September 2020, actor Robert Pattinson tested positive for the virus, causing production of his upcoming Batman movie to be halted. In response, some actors have voiced their concerns that the restrictions are affecting their ability to perform.

Harrelson’s comments centered specifically around the use of masks and face shields on set, which he says make it difficult to act. He argued that the protective gear obscures the actors’ faces and makes it harder to convey emotions. “It’s not something that we’re used to doing as actors. We have to get rid of this ridiculousness,” he said in the interview.

However, the actor did acknowledge the importance of following COVID-19 protocols and taking precautions. He emphasized that he is not anti-mask and believes that measures such as social distancing and testing are necessary. Harrelson also praised the vaccine rollout as a positive step towards returning to normalcy.

Despite his reservations about COVID-19 protocols on set, many studios and production companies are continuing to prioritize the safety of their cast and crew. The entertainment industry has taken a significant hit during the pandemic, with production delays and theater closures interrupting the release of many movies and TV shows. While actors and crew members may be eager to return to work, it’s clear that the industry will need to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

It’s important to note that Woody Harrelson is entitled to his opinion, and it is not uncommon for actors to express their thoughts on the movie-making process. However, it’s essential to remember that COVID-19 is still a real and deadly threat, and that the protocols in place are designed to keep people safe. While restrictions on movie sets may seem disruptive or frustrating, they are crucial to preventing the spread of the virus and safeguarding the health of everyone involved in the production process.
