Aubrey Plaza, the actress best known for her roles in Parks and Recreation and Legion, recently revealed that she had a memorable encounter with former Vice President Joe Biden as a teenager.
Plaza, who is from Wilmington, Delaware, was recently a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and recalled the unique experience. She explained that she and her family were at a Fourth of July parade when Biden and his wife, Jill, were in attendance.
According to Plaza, she was so excited to see Biden that she couldn’t contain her enthusiasm. She said, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Joe Biden!’ I was like, ‘Joe Biden! Joe Biden!’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s looking at me.’ And he was like, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, he knows my name.’”
Plaza then recounted that Biden and she had a “crazy stare-down” for a few moments. She said, “I just stared at him for like a minute and then he was like, ‘You’re Aubrey, right?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, I’m Aubrey.’”
The actress went on to explain that she was so excited that she couldn’t speak. She said, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, he knows my name.’ And then I was like, ‘I can’t say anything, I’m just gonna stare at him.’”
This “crazy stare-down” with Joe Biden is something that Plaza will never forget. She said, “It was a really cool moment for me. I’ll never forget it.”
Plaza is now a successful actress and comedian, but this encounter with Biden will always be a special memory for her. It is a reminder that even as a teenager, she was already making an impression on people.
