Hikaru Shida recently received a terrible beating from AEW rival Serena Dib. In the last episode of the Dynamite series, Shida worked her knee with Serena. After Dib Hikaru placed Shida in the semi-final, the referee was forced to suspend the game. The injury in the story line seems to have prevented Shida from playing for a while.

AEW is selling him as a serious injury. The reason for the corner is simple. Shida had planned to return to Japan in February. He seems to have made the trip a little earlier than expected.

Dave Meltzer explained the reason for the corner this week Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Shida takes some rest to return to Japan. The injury angle takes him out of the TV during that time.

“After Dib’s injury at Dynamite, Shida returned to Japan for a while.”

The date of Hikaru Shida’s return to the United States is unknown. AEW fans should play a game of waiting. Shida will probably be in the spotlight and the AEW will be ready to win the Women’s World Cup again.

The AEW women’s department relied heavily on Shida during the pandemic days without fans. The Japanese star enjoyed watching Tony Han’s organization. I hope she has a fun and safe trip home!
