Knicks fan favorite Obi Toppin is sure to have more minutes in Tom Tibodo’s rotation – as soon as the 6-foot 9 power forward becomes a more confident and determined 3-point shooter.
Those who play for Thibodeau identify the same trend: He loves guys who play tough, smart defense and can shoot 3 arrows.
However, since Toppin came out of the COVID-19 protocols on December 23, he has remained a cowardly bomber flying long distances. In the seven games he has played since his return, Toppin has tried to score 3 points in just 11 times. Often, when Toppin receives the ball around the perimeter, he does not look in the direction of the ring, but to pass the ball quickly. And while he has shot 55.6 percent since returning from the COVID list, his 3-point lead is 27.3 percent. (He has a 21.1 3-point percentage for the season.)
