Halsey fans were left disappointed as the singer’s show in Maryland Wednesday was canceled due to flooding.
The “Without Me” singer took to social shortly after the cancelation and apologized for the way the event was handled by the Merriweather Post Pavillion venue.
“Maryland I don’t even know what to say,” they said wrote. “But right now I’m heartbroken and panicked and I just want to know when / that you all get home safely. I love you guys more than anything.”

The Merriweather Post Pavillion promised a show “rain or shine,” delayed the concert as the event was expected to start and eventually canceled. Many fans were caught under the rainfall as they waited for Halsey to perform.
Halsey explained later she wanted to come out for the show but couldn’t “because it would have been SO unsafe if I went out there and people rushed the stage during or after the storm.”
“A lot of things were out of my control tonight but I promise everything I COULD choose, I chose your safety,” the said.

Halsey added in a later tweet: “I really want to add that I am beyond disappointed with the way the venue handled everything tonight and my rescheduled date will be happening somewhere else. I hear you guys loud and clear I promise.”
Halsey also went live on Instagram where she said in a video that weather experts did not see the flood coming, but were optimistic the weather conditions would be clear just as fast as they started.
Regardless of the outcome, Halsey said local authorities advised a “shelter in place.” “We had to keep you guys at the venue because it wouldn’t have been safe to let everybody evacuate at once because of stampedes and traffic,” they said.
Several counties were under flash flood warnings due to heavy rain on Wednesday, The Washington Post reported. Some counties also had brief tornado warnings.
Fans arrived to Halsey’s concert after the venue announced via social media that it would take place “rain or shine. “
At around 7:30 pm EDT, the Merriweather Post Pavillion tweeted that the show was “delayed due to weather. “
Concertgoers were seemingly told to exit the venue and await reentry details. “The Halsey show will resume at 9:30. Please make your way back into the venue,” they said announced at 9:00 pm EDT.

An hour later, the venue shared, “The Halsey show will not be happening due to weather-related technical difficulties. “

Concertgoers shared videos across social media as they waited for Halsey amid the heavy rain.
“Halsey’s team went all out with the special effects for this tour,” one fan joked alongside a video of the rainfall making it through the venue’s overhead.

Another concertgoer shared a video as fans waded through flood water. “why did merriweather decide to go on with the halsey concert when the path to the pavillion looks like this,” they wrote.
“just a little light rain at the halsey maryland show!” one fan wrote alongside video showing a wider view of the audience.
