There were few places on earth where Elvis Presley himself could be. One of the highlights was his home, Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee. The outside world always wanted a piece of the Rock-n-Roll King, but on the Elvis border, Elvis was safe. It was safer even in the limited rooms upstairs, which could only be accessed at Elvis’s suggestion.
Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa-Marie, did not touch his upstairs rooms after his death
In an interview with Closer Weekly, Elvis’s girlfriend, Ginger Alden, said Elvis played an organ in his top office and wore a pearl gown. “It was a soft pink, indirect light. It was magical,” he said.
Guests could only enter the upper rooms at Elvis’s invitation. Elvis’ other girlfriend, Linda Thompson, who was with him in Graceland from 1972 to 1976, said his bedroom was “black, red and gold…. No – the windows never opened.” Lisa-Marie, Elvis’s daughter, slept next to him.
“She and I spent a lot of time together upstairs. This part of Graceland is basically her room and my room,” Lisa Marie said. “She had a small chair in my room. [we’d watch] TV set. ”
Graceland opened for tours in 1982, but the upper floor was never open to everyone, as Elvis was not limited to living. Lisa-Marie kept everything about her father’s rooms as it was the day she died in 1977. The last record he played on the counter is still in place, the record of JD Sumner and Brands. “Books, videos, everything is still there. Adult father, citizen Kane, pink panther, Bruce Lee – all his videos, ”Lisa Marie said. “It’s a beautiful grief. [But] it gives me a lot of comfort. ”
Why Priscilla Presley was nervous about leaving Elvis alone
Elvis Presley felt free at Graceland
Elvis may have bought Graceland for his parents in 1956, but the house became synonymous with his musical career in his life. At the door, he can be himself, dropping all the loads, which is one of the most famous figures in the world.
“It was a safe place, he knew the staff and had everything there,” the family insider told Closer Weekly. “If he wanted to see someone, they would come to him.”
Did President Nixon really ask Elvis Presley to spy on John Lennon?
Lisa Marie says her father took her out for a night ride in a golf cart at night. “He was surprisingly funny and naughty,” she said. “There is not a single bad memory. There was always a lot of energy and life in the house.”
“Graceland has all the memories she has of her ex-wife Priscilla, her daughter and much of her mother,” the friend added. “He was walking around the yard and he loved watching TV in his wooded room.”
One thing is certain; You don’t have to climb up to feel that Elvis will be in Graceland. It looks like a perfectly preserved time capsule.
