MEMFIS – January 8 marks the 87th birthday of Elvis Presley. The late “King of Rock and Roll” was born in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He died in 1977 at the age of 42.

Every year, loyal fans gather at his property to celebrate his life. Traditionally, Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises celebrate his birthday with a few days of events, reviews and concerts in Memphis, Tennessee.

Here are five ways fans can participate in different celebrations. Some events are free, while others are paid. Tickets can be purchased and details can be found at Graceland.com.

Thursday

Elvis’s birthday and evening trips to Graceland Palace

17:00 and 18:00 at the Memphis Entertainment Complex by Graceland and Elvis Presley

Graceland Palace House will host a special guided evening tour starting at 5:00 p.m. Fans can also see Elvis Presley’s exhibits in Memphis (Car Museum, Presley Cycles, Archives Exhibition, Army Exhibition, ICONS Exhibition, and Elvis: Entertainer). At 6pm, the birthday night will begin with an Elvis dance night hosted by SiriusXM’s Elvis Radio DJ Argo at Presley Motors. There will also be appearances and book signings at Elvis: The Entertainer Gift Shop with Dixie Locke Emmons, who met Elvis in the 1950s. The celebration includes free appetizers and money bars, as well as a trash hunt for gifts along with an Elvis trivia prize wheel. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Price: $ 90 for adults (11 and up); $ 58 for young people (5-10); Children under 4 are free.

13:00 Guest House Theater, Guest House in Graceland

One of Elvis ’favorite feature films, Viva Las Vegas, will be screened free of charge during the day at the Graceland Hotel. Fans can enjoy Elvis as a “go-go” guy and Anne Margaret as a “bay-bay” girl touring the world’s exciting capital, and attendees can join in on the film’s memorable tunes. Sitting first.

Saturday

Elvis Presley Day Announcement Ceremony

8:30 North Lawn, Graceland Palace

It has become a tradition every year in the early morning as Elvis’s friends and family, including Priscilla Presley – cut a birthday cake on Graceland’s northern lawn in memory of the king. The announcement of Elvis Presley Day will also be read by Memphis and Shelby County officials. After the ceremony, fans can head across the street to Elvis Presley’s Vernon’s Smokehouse in Memphis, where a free birthday cake and coffee will be served.

Conversations about Elvis

13:00 Guest House Theater, Guest House in Graceland

The favorite and always informative conversations in Elvis panel format will have a special edition dedicated to the birthday at The Guest House as fans can hear the stories of those who know the King of Rock n Roll best. Hosted by Tom Brown, the event will feature Priscilla Presley, Elvis and Terry Blackwood, who starred in The Imperials, and Elvis jeweler Lowell Hayes.

19:30. Graceland Soundstage

There is no better way than to celebrate Elvis with his music. Graceland Soundstage will host the Memphis Symphony Orchestra as they present their annual Elvis Pops concert. Singer Terry Mike Jeffrey and his band join MSO members to give a musical salute to Elvis ’catalog and various corners of his career. The concert will feature a special performance by Priscilla Presley.
