Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke of President Biden’s lack of tough action on the southern border and the Democrats ’hypocrisy on immigration in Watters World on Saturday.
DeSantis was in Texas, where 50 Florida law enforcement officers are helping with the border crisis.
“The federal government needs to strengthen Texas where it fails, and Florida and other states are helping,” he told host Jesse Watters.
DeSantis points out that the increase in immigration will affect not only the countries on the southern border, but also the places where migrants are sent in different parts of America.
Two asylum policies? The Cubans who came by boat returned, but those who crossed the south-western border were good odds.
“Most people in Florida have admitted that the final destination is Florida,” he said. “So it’s very important not only for our country, but also for countries like me, because most of these people come here illegally.”
DeSantis also said the Biden administration would help immigrants get to the desired destination without the consent of state governors.
“When they’re handed over to the federations, what the federations actually do is give them a bus ticket and let them go wherever they want,” he said.
“It has a huge impact on our schools, our social services, and so on,” DeSantis continued. “Make no mistake about it, it’s a deliberate policy that allows illegal migrants to travel across the country in violation of the law.”
DeSantis also criticized Democrats for not allowing Cubans to come in, allowing immigrants to cross the southern border freely.
“The political persecution they have left the communist dictatorship is a hundred times stronger than most other immigrants crossing the border, because they want more economic opportunity,” DeSantis said.
“It’s a double standard, but honestly, that’s what we expected, because I think most of their border policy is very political in nature.”
In June, about 190,000 migrants met at the southern border. Customs and Border Protection announced on Friday that the total number of meetings in fiscal year 2021 has exceeded 1 million.
