Democrats in Texas have fled the capital to avoid voting on new election laws, which is hypocritical, Gov. Greg Abbott said in Hannity on Wednesday.
GOV. ABBOTT: What’s going on with this election law in Texas is that, as we’ve pointed out pretty well, we’re going to vote for hours without reducing the hours to vote. Everything we do is perfectly legal.
The only thing I would add is the hypocrisy of the Democrats in Texas and Washington, D.C., because what the Texas Democrats want to achieve in Washington is that they are trying to get their jobs removed from the U.S. Senate. filibuster rule. Well, think about it. What the Texas Democrats are doing is they are doing filibustering in Texas and trying to stop the filibuster rule from the Washington Democrats. This is the culmination of hypocrisy. All they want to do is complain. They want to spread false information about what the law really does. I guarantee you … When Texas law is repealed, the chances of it being overturned by a court are zero, because what we are doing is absolutely constitutional …
We voted today in the Texas Senate, a property tax exemption that Texas residents can’t get because Democrats weren’t in the Texas House of Representatives. So they have a job and let me tell you something. Texas voters are extremely angry that members of the Texas House have not come and done their job. If you didn’t show up and do your job, if other people who are currently watching your show didn’t come and do their job, they would have lost their jobs or lost their tears. This is exactly what happens with members of the Texas House of Representatives.
