Giants Kenny Golladay may be kept in contempt of court

Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay is at risk of being disrespected by the court later this month for ignoring last month’s summons and failing to make a virtual deposit.

Golladay is a party with no potential liability in a civil case that has sued former NFL agent Jason Bernstein for violating an exclusive rights contract by working with NFL agent Todd France, a plaintiff against the memorial company Redland Sports and MVP Authentics. Golladay played with the Lions at the time and later became a client of the French agency Creative Artists.

Golladay has until July 22 – five days before the Giants ’training camp opens – to explain in writing why he did not comply with a U.S. court summons for Michigan’s Eastern District, according to Bernstein’s application. Given by Clarity Sports International and the referee.

The document was first opened by Jason Morrin – a law student at Hofstra and an employee of Geragos & Geragos – and later obtained by The Post. In civil cases, contempt is considered direct or indirect, and sanctions vary from case to case. According to the lawsuit, Golladay has not responded to requests since the petition was filed on May 14.

Bernstein is claiming more than $ 1.7 million in damages as he estimates that Golladay lost more than $ 10,000 in marketing deals and that Golladay lost a three percent commission from his NFL contract, according to the Detroit News. Golladay signed a four-year, $ 72 million free agency deal with the Giants in March, including a $ 40 million guarantee.
