The warriors will not allow their dynasty to fall.
After failing to reach the playoffs in the last two years, Golden State is looking to bolster its squad and return to next season. According to Athletic player John Hollinger, Toronto Raptors striker Pascal Siakam is watching as the fighters have assets to make a blockbuster deal.
Golden State has 7 and 14 selections in the 2021 NBA Draft, and they could use one of those selections and last year’s No. 2 James Wiseman in the kit.
“… There is a widespread assumption that the fighters will use No. 7 and Weiseman in particular to try to update the list more quickly. One name to watch: Pascal Siakam, ”Hollinger wrote.
The Warriors won the Timberwolves ’call-up contest last year because they didn’t make the top three in the D’Angelo Russell sale and the Minnesota NBA Draft lottery.
Steph Curry, Clay Thompson and Dreymond Green are underage and the Warriors are feeling their title chances are dwindling. Siakam can kill two birds with one stone for Warriors. The 27-year-old forward offers the Golden State the best mix to be young and experienced enough to improve the aging team, winning the championship with the Raptors in 2019.
The Cameroon-born forward has averaged 21.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this season. However, its effectiveness indicators have declined; Siakam jumped just 29.7% from the 3-point range, up from 35.9% a year earlier.
The one-time All-Star underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn lip on his left shoulder and may not be in good health for five months.
Such a trade would benefit not only the Warriors but also the Raptors. Weissman, as a freshman, averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 goals in just 39 games. Still only 20 years old, he is fit for the Raptors ’recovery. Toronto could host another lottery for the No. 4 overall pick.
