At Netflix’s Dave Chappelle controversial new show center, the family of the late transgender comedian realized and supported him as an “LGBTQ ally”.
Critics have accused Chappel of revealing transphobic jokes in “Closer,” which ends with a episode dedicated to his late trans friend Daphne Dorman.
But while Dorman’s sisters, Brandy and Becky, are defending the funny man who won the Emmy, Brandi said on Facebook that her “message was lost in translation,” according to the Daily Beast.
“Dave loved my sister and she’s an LGBTQ ally,” Brandi added, pointing to Daphne, who killed herself for clinging to Chappelle for her earlier remarks about the trans community.
“His whole set asked for an end to this situation,” he said.
Brandi added on Facebook: “I think he poured his heart out like that and no one noticed.
“What does he say to the LGBTQ family?” I see you. Can you see me? I cry the way I know my friend. Do you see me Can you let me ‘”he wrote, calling the collection a” call to a meeting. “
In a special program that lasted about an hour, Chappelle sang “Team TERF!” He thinks about joining. – The acronym “exclusive radical feminist” and the author of “Harry Potter” refer to JK Rowling — and he says he agrees that “sex is a fact.”
Chappelle Gags canceled Netflix’s campaign to drop its shows.
But in texts in The Daily Beast, Becky said her sister was “amazed at Dave’s politeness.”
“She didn’t find her jokes to be anything rude, rude, colorless, annoying. She thought her jokes were funny,” she writes of her new beginning comedian sister, whom Chappelle invited to open on shows. “Dafna understood humor and comedy – she wasn’t upset. Why would her family be upset?”
Chappelle, 44-year-old Dorman, thrilled audiences by telling him how he jumped from the roof of a building in October 2019 while “dragging” from the Internet for defending trance jokes on the Sticks & Stones show.
“My heart was broken,” he said, even though he didn’t know why he had killed himself, “it didn’t help that I was dragging him.”
He remembered with pride Dorman tweeted protected him from allegations that his material about transgender people had “fallen”.
Dorman said on August 29, 2019, “It requires you to consider yourself superior to the other group.” @DaveChappelle doesn’t consider herself better than me in any way. He doesn’t kick or hit down. He hits the lines. That’s his job and he’s a master of his craft. “
Chappelle called it a “beautiful tweet” from a “beautiful friend.”
“The hardest thing for a man is to go against his own tribe … It took a lot of heart to protect me like that,” he said.
“I don’t know what the trans-community did for him,” Chappelle said. “But it doesn’t matter to me because I feel he’s not his own tribe. He was mine. He was a comedian at heart.”
Before committing suicide, Becky said it was “the biggest bright spot for Dave Daphne.”
“It’s wrong to blame Dave,” he told the Daily Beast. “He helped her and made her feel comfortable talking to her. She had a lot of demons; Dave Chappelle wasn’t one of them.”
