R&B singer Emani 22 gained popularity on social media after she died in Los Angeles at the age of 22, but her death has not been confirmed.
Although his family has not yet confirmed his death, the Sun reports that rumors are circulating that he may have been involved in a car accident.
The point is that while it has not been confirmed how Emani 22, who went by Instagram @lonebrain and whose real name is Emani Johnson, died, another rapper, Bhad Babi, paid tribute to a close friend.
“It doesn’t even seem real. I would spend almost every day with you. You taught me a lot. You inspire many of my sisters (hair, nails, styling, etc.),” the artist writes. “I miss you so much.”
She posted a photo of the two together on Monday night, another of Johnson and Babi’s dog, “Chuppa’s favorite aunt.”
In Bhad Babi’s comments section, fans expressed their condolences, saying they were “very sorry” for his disappearance and offered Johnson a “quiet rest”.
Some people, however, laughed at the 18-year-old rapper’s posts on social media, mocking his respect for his beloved friend.
“I don’t understand why people laugh,” replied one of the artist’s fans. “It’s not a joke. He lost a loved one to grieve peacefully.”
Following Babi’s posts, condolences were expressed in comments on Johnson’s Instagram page.
“Rest in heaven, girl,” wrote singer Ssni Molly.
“It’s very sad,” added musician Chris Olim. “Rest in love.”
Music enthusiasts and producer Jarred Jermaine wrote in amazement, “I can’t believe it.”
Johnson’s other friends wrote posts on social media to honor him and mourn his death, including his friend @alannatheballer on Instagram.
“My heart hurts so badly,” he writes. “You have been a light for many of us. Thank you for always being kind and compassionate to me.”
He recalled a few stories about Johnson under the headline, and said he loved Johnson for how “brave” he was and always cared for his friends. He promised to keep his memory at the end of the post.
Another friend of Johnson’s, known as Baby Got, also shared photos of the two on Instagram, paying tribute to the two.
“I don’t believe it’s true. You’ve been with me from the beginning,” he writes. “You were a lamp in the dark and there was so much more to give to this world, it’s an injustice. I love you and I miss you Emani.”
Emani 22 started releasing music last year, garnering 145,000 followers on Instagram, including well-known musicians like DJ Diplo.
