“A Whole New World” and an all-new Magic Kingdom fireworks greeting show.

Walt Disney World has removed its longstanding greeting, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,” from its Magic Kingdom fireworks show to promote inclusivity, Insider told. It’s called “Good evening, dreamers of all ages!” will be replaced with one starting with .

Disney World employees on Wednesday Invited to Preview “Cast Members” “Happily Ever After” fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. While the fireworks display remains almost the same as in years past, the opening greetings for the show have been updated.

The preview was the first fireworks show held at Disney World since the nightly shows were halted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jack Wagner, known as “the voice of Disney”, speculated that he Pronounced the phrase over 8 million times During his two-decade stint as the park announcer for Disneyland, Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland.

twitter user @showcasewish Shared a video comparing the greetings heard in 2020 with the greetings played on Wednesday night. The user tweeted, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls forever!”

Some commenters echoed the original post’s hesitation, calling the decision “totally unnecessary” and “overly sensitive”.

However, most commentators were quite supportive of the change. One user replied, “I love ‘dreamers of all ages’ because it really makes that super relaxing feel more magical. It’s so heartwarming.” Another added, “Hot Take: ‘Good evening, streamers of all ages’ works better thematically.”

A third joked, “Because ‘ladies, gentlemen, boys, girls, and everyone who identifies otherwise’ can be a bit snarky. It’s better to be straight to the point.”

Disney has yet to comment on the updated greeting at Disney World.

In March, the same change was made at Tokyo Disney Resort – “ladies and gentlemen” was replaced with “all welcome” in park announcements to promote gender inclusion, According to Disney fan site WDWNT.com. The change initially came from the Oriental Land Company, which licenses the Disney brand, its characters, and their likeness to the park. That change only affected English declarations, as Japanese declarations have always used the term gender-neutral.

A spokesperson for Oriental Land Company said in March, “We want all guests to have a fun and relaxing experience at Tokyo Disney Resort, and we hope this change will make guests of all gender identities feel more comfortable visiting our parks.” Will do it.” “Keeping these ideals in mind and in the light of changing social norms, we decided to make this change.”

The latest greeting change comes after several attempts in recent months and years to make visitors more welcoming.

The company announced in January that it would be removing racially insensitive scenes from its Jungle Cruise rides. According to Disney, the updated rides no longer include “negative depictions” of native people, and reflect “the diversity of the world around us.”

In June 2020, Disney announced that it would be turning Splash Mountain into “Prince and the Frog” at US theme parks—the ride after Backlash. The ride was linked to the racist “Song of the South” Disney film from 1946.

Disney parks around the world have also featured gay couples and children with disabilities on the cover of Park Guide maps. The Walt Disney Company introduced “inclusion” as its fifth key to cast member training in September 2020.

Additionally, just today, a Florida theme park and resort announced that it will be offering a free pass for its 50th anniversary celebration. The pass will go to 50 people whose “inspiring acts of kindness, compassion, and creativity are the best example of Disney Magic Maker’s values,” according to one blog post. Selected people will also get one year free membership Disney+.

Disney will also donate $400,000 to nonprofits Make-A-Wish, the Starlight Children’s Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of America, and the Nature Conservancy. According to the blog post, these organizations “showed resilience” during the pandemic and “found unique and innovative ways to continue serving their communities when they needed magic most.”
