Dems of Texas fled the state in a desperate attempt to stop GOP election bills, but why go to Washington, DC?

What are a few thousand dollars among Democrats?

Dozens of Democratic lawmakers from Texas have left the special legislature to break the quorum and stop the republic’s efforts to expedite the passage of new bills on election integrity.

Passing through Oklahoma or Louisiana would simply cost less for travel and accommodation – which is exactly what lawmakers have to spend in the nation’s capital on Mondays and Aug. 7.

TEXAS DEMS STILL SAVE MORE THAN $ 221 FOR ALL DIEME IN LIFE

There are 3 star Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Washington, Oklahoma City and New Orleans. Acesparks looked at hotel prices in each city.

DC accommodations start at $ 149 per night. A similar room in New Orleans costs $ 97. In Oklahoma City, that would be $ 104. Hyatt’s low-cost rooms have the same price in New Orleans and Oklahoma City and start at $ 199 in the nation’s capital.

Meanwhile, a flight from Austin to Washington could cost at least $ 236 in the short term, according to Google Flights – more than $ 209 for Oklahoma City and more than $ 185 for New Orleans. And the shorter the flight, the shorter the carbon footprint.

But being in Washington will also help outside state lawmakers pass the Democrat-backed voting law, the People’s Act, and John Lewis ’Voting Rights Act, which have been stalled in Congress. These bills prohibit the type of rules that Texas Republicans ss act on. Despite the majority of Democrats in the House and Senate, they cannot repeal them because of the filibuster.

TEXAS GOV, STATE “RETURNS” RETURN, ELECTION REPORT

Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has defended the GOP bill as an effort to prevent early voting and mail-in ballot fraud.

“Texas is making it easier to vote and harder to cheat,” he said on Twitter on Tuesday.

Texas Democrats did not immediately respond to Acesparks’ request for comment.

Although the group has promised not to spend any money from taxpayers on travel, lawmakers are being identified at $ 221 per day as the state legislature is technically in session.

But the real cost of touring the countries comes from truck trucks and lawmakers ’own pockets, they said.

WHAT DEMOCRATS WHO CAME TO THE DEVIL CRUW SAY ABOUT THE SECTORS IN TEXAS

Former Texas spokesman Beto O’Rourke’s Powered by People also raised $ 430,000 to help the North, the Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday. That’s more than the $ 142,000 O’Rourke said he raised on Monday.

“The longer he keeps them in the fight, the more he has to use them,” he said.

Country legend Willie Nelson and his wife even donated $ 5,000, according to a video shared on O’Roure’s Twitter account.

The group of legislators was praised by the left for taking the position, and ridiculed by the right for dramatizing the trip and avoiding the responsibilities associated with holding public office.

Texas Democrat James Talariko previously wrote on Twitter that the AWOL legislature “has left our family, our livelihood and our beloved Texas behind.”

Republican Congressman Dan Cranshow mocked in response.

“It’s hard to imagine people being more imaginative – lying about them [election integrity] Expenses, jumping on a charter flight, drinking beer and being fired are “sacrifices,” he writes.

Rejected Democrats didn’t all travel together – some made commercial flights, and at least one, state spokesman John Busi III, traveled 23 hours. Others flew on charter flights operated by the Democratic caucus of the House of Representatives.

But while they are out of state, Texas Republicans, who run both houses of the state Legislature, do not have the quorum or minimum number of legislators needed to pass new laws.

The GOP says electoral reforms are aimed at improving the integrity of elections and protecting the rights of the state, while Democrats say the bills will stifle democratic voters, especially minorities.

Desperate Governor Abbott vowed to continue convening special legislative sessions until the Democrats return to work. State Republicans have called for the arrest of Democrats from outside if necessary.
