Darby Allin worked hard to earn his rightful place amongst a stacked roster of talent in All Elite Wrestling. His dedication and no-nonsense work ethic led MJF to dub him one of the pillars of AEW. He also has a hot take on Cody Rhodes’ departure from the company.

Allin recently sat down with New York Post for an interview. The former AEW TNT Champion expressed his views on the departure of Cody Rhodes from the promotion he helped formed alongside Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.

“I’m just happy if he’s happy. That’s all it comes down to. [There are] different roads everyone can take on this journey in professional wrestling. I know I wouldn’t be happy doing anything outside of AEW because of all the free time, all the skating that I get to do, and all my side projects, and the craziness.

“I can’t be tied down to following a schedule that much. But if he finds that happiness, that’s all that’s important. That’s all that really matters to me. It’s nobody’s business but his own. ”

Darby Allin also recalled his Fyter Fest match against The American Nightmare. For those not in the know, Darby made his AEW debut at the June 29th PPV event, where he wrestled Cody to a time-limit draw.

“He saw the passion that I had to be in AEW in the beginning, and that’s why he chose me to wrestle him at Fyter Fest. That was my debut. We went to a 20-minute broadway. To kind of take a relative unknown and work a wrestler like myself at the time and do that, is very special. ”

Most recently, Darby squared off against Jeff Hardy in the Owen Hart Men’s Tournament quarterfinals. Darby lost the match after Jeff countered his coffin drop into a rollup. Check out the closing moments of the match down below.
