Charles Barkley’s plan to fill Hawks ’trae Young’s absence in Game 4 has been met with huge setbacks.
“I’d start Jeff Teag because if you start Lou Williams, I don’t see it – yes, Jeff Teague,” Barkley said Tuesday in the NBA ahead of the Hawks ’110-88 win over the Bucks. “I’d start it.”
His partner, Ernie Johnson, knew exactly why this wasn’t working.
“He wasn’t on the full Atlanta Hawks list,” Johnson replied.
Barkley was stunned as Teag played for the Hawks from 2009-2016 and even made 25 appearances for the franchise last season. However, after turning the tag around, he signed a contract with the Bucks earlier this year – an enemy of the Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Shaquille O’Neal – TNT’s performance in the NBA – allowed Barkley to film him – immediately after Barkley’s mistake.
“Big doll,” O’Neill said, screaming.
When Barkley actually struggled to think of the Hawks ’guard – his partners didn’t help him at all – O’Neill joked about the names of the old Hawks, including 1986 Slam Dunk champion Spoud Webb.
Barkley and Shaq are no strangers to sparring live on TV, the former roasting the latter this week when talking about the big men in the NBA.
“When I first saw Shaq in person, I said he was human – № 1: He’s ugly,” Barkley said Sunday.
