TVXQ member Changmin the last solo single spoke of the inspiration of Devil.

Yesterday (January 13) the K-pop veteran returned her second solo mini-album, Devil, and the lead single of the same name. At a press conference that day, the singer shared the inspiration behind the performance.

While working on the mini-album, Changmin said he decided to use the “devil” motif to express the fear people felt during the pandemic. “I thought there might be a devil inside of us instead of the devil I represented,” he said.

“The word ‘devil’ here does not mean ‘evil’, but the discomfort caused by the pandemic and the stress of the current situation, as well as the fear of something,” the singer added.

He also said that the lyrics to the original demo track spoke of the “intensive” devil and that he later borrowed it while writing his own songs. “I thought it was strong energy [of the idea of a devil] He could have gone well with the idea of moving forward without succumbing to the whispers of Satan, which is the message I want to convey. ”

Elsewhere in the press conference, the idol also talked about his debut solo album, Chocolate, released in 2020. He compared the recording processes for the two releases, noting that there was more time to work on the Devil.

When I finished working on The Devil, I came back and listened [‘Chocolate’] to see if there is a difference, ”Changmin said. “I was surprised to learn that there are actually many [of differences], especially in my vocals. I got much better and realized what I was missing at the time, which embarrassed me. “

The release of the Devil mini-album marks the idol’s first local return as a solo artist in almost two years after making his solo debut in 2020 with the Chocolate mini-album. the name, as well as a track called “Lie” featuring a soloist Chung Ha.
