In fiscal 2021, the number of sex offenders crossing the border reached 488, up from 156 in fiscal 2020 and 58 in fiscal 2019. In fiscal year 2022, which began in October, there were at least 64 sex offenders among immigrants.
Currently, by fiscal year 2022, 110 members of criminal groups have been arrested at the border. In fiscal 2021, 348 gang members were arrested, down significantly from 363 in fiscal 2020 and 976 in fiscal 2019, prompting some Republicans to fear hiding from border trolls.
