Arthur Ashe Stadium Staff Plans To Be More Prepared For Huge Crowd At AEW Grand Slam

AEW drew its largest crowd ever to Arthur Ashe Stadium for last year’s huge Grand Slam event. The company will be making its return to the famous tennis grounds on September 21. After some major gaffes last year, the stadium’s staff is hoping to be better prepared this time around.

It was reported that those working at Arthur Ashe Stadium had no clue that AEW would draw such a huge crowd last year. Concessions were not adequate to deal with upwards of 20,000 wrestling fans. Merchandise sold out almost instantly.

Andrew Zarian spoke with a contact at the venue about whether they would be prepared this time. A staffer told him they are aware of the issues last year. They don’t expect a repeat performance.

“We are very much aware of the issues last year regarding the concession stands and don’t expect the same issues this year.”

Tony Khan hopes to make Grand Slam a huge annual television event for AEW. After many fans found the service at the stadium to be lackluster, there were some things to address. It sounds like it will be a much smoother experience this year.

With tickets going on sale in late July, Arthur Ashe Stadium has plenty of time to prepare for the huge rush of wrestling fans. Hopefully, there are no major issues at the event. The stadium’s staff seems to be on the ball after being caught off guard at last year’s Grand Slam event.
