A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Taco Bell employee in Los Angeles during a dispute over a counterfeit $ 20 bill.
Los Angeles police identified Dertment as the suspect, 39-year-old Jonathan Madden. He was arrested at his home in South Los Angeles on Monday.
According to court documents, he is charged with murder and attempted murder twice. He is being held on $ 2 million bail.
According to investigators, Madden shot 41-year-old Alejandro Garcia as he was driving around the Avalon boulevard of the food chain at about 11 p.m. She reportedly refused to accept a counterfeit $ 20 and worked the night shift with her 19-year-old son.
During a wake-up call on Tuesday night, family members said Garcia was the father of three children who worked one night a week at Taco Bell to earn extra money, KTLA-TV reported.
“I hope that one day I will be like him too. He put our family first in everything,” he said. “SHE IS [suspect] I had to get someone I loved very much and considered me my best friend. He was not just a father. He was also my best friend. ”
LAPD chief Michelle Moore attended the vigilance and announced his arrest, but did not name the suspect.
