Tommy Dorfman is best known as Ryan Shaver Netflix“s 13 reasons why, came out as a transgender woman.
In a conversation with Time Dorfman explained that over the past year, she has “privately identified and lived” as a woman – a trans woman.
He also talked about the importance of documenting his transition to Instagram as a means of managing his story.
“I’ve lived in a different version of going out where I don’t feel safe to talk about it, so I do it,” Dorfman said. “But I understand that this transition is beautiful. Why not let the world see her look? So I kept a diarrheal time capsule on Instagram – it’s a body in a more fluid space. something that shows that he lives. “
